What I want;
-updated ACDs. They're getting on a bit. I predict the 20" display will go at least 1080 HD, iSight and IR in all models, faster response time, contrast, etc.
-MBP updates. Penryn sounds good at the moment. 2GB RAM standard, updated HDDs, maybe 17" LED display?
-Big Mac Mini update. It could turn into the headless iMac we all want so bad. I'm not hedging any bets on this, though. If it is updated, it'll at least go SR
-MacBook Nano; ULV dual core intel chip at 1.2GHz, 802.11n, BT, up to 2GB RAM (one stick), external optical drive, 11.1" LED display. US$1499
-iTunes 7.6 brings movie rentals, games for iPhone/iPod Touch

Personally, I like how Personality Cafe (http://personalitycafe.com/forum/) does it. But that is a psychology forum, not a tech forum. I'm not sure if it fits for a tech forum.

Although it's not spelled out, Gartner estimate 59 million computers were sold worldwide last quarter. Apple says they sold 1.6 million, so that makes 2.7%. This is up from 2.2% (1.2 million out of 55 million) last quarter.
Still well behind the fifth placed Toshiba's 4.3% (according to Appleinsider (http://appleinsider.com/article.php?id=2158))
So if they continue growing at this rate, they won't be in the top 5 for 6-9 months.

Agreed. I'm not sure what the motivation in having such highly-stylized, and ill-fitting UI's are, but they're eyesores, and very difficult to use. I've switched off, and reverted to the "classic" views wherever possible in Lion.
I noticed most of the criticism stems from the changes in iCal and Address Book which are both disgusting. Sadly they havent changed yet

Maybe the NRA didn't like this Harvard study and they don't want young families to know about it either?

The silent button is wrong, wrong, wrong.
it comes to far forward, it would need to be level with the volume rocker which is also too far back,
I like the ipad version tho....

Why does it matter that he was gay? I thought that gay people where supposed to be the same as everyone else. Did his being gay give him some sort of super powers to break codes?
Positive role models for others. Perhaps attitudes towards the LGBT community will change when they see that some of the great contributors to civilization where also a part of that community. Up until the civil rights movement, most history classes were about dead white men (presumably straight). Now we have a much broader sense of history including minorities and aboriginal histories. This just fills things in a bit more.

What if after pressing the start button, you create a timer and start it. Then pressing the cancel button invalidates and releases it. Then pressing the start button would create another timer, using the same pointer.
Totally untested and probably broken code below, but should demonstrate the idea:
-(IBAction)startButton:(id) sender {
// myTimer is declared in header file ...
if (myTimer!=nil) { // if the pointer already points to a timer, you don't want to create a second one without stoping and destroying the first
[myTimer invalidate];
[myTimer release];
}
// Now that we know myTimer doesn't point to a timer already..
myTimer = [NSTimer scheduledTimerWithTimeInterval:aTimeInterval target:self selector:@selector(echoIt:) userInfo:myDict repeats:YES];
[myTimer retain];
}
-(IBAction)cancelIt:(id) sender {
[myTimer invalidate];
[myTimer release]; // This timer is now gone, and you won't reuse it.
}
Update *** "I though it worked but the timer kept going on the background.
crashed :confused:
wlh99, do you get an exception in the invalid method " [myTimer Invalidate]" ?

Best Buy is no longer reputable... ( I think they were in the mid 90's)
Any dealings I've had with them have been slimy. They jack up the prices to ridiculous levels on items like Flash Memory, ripping off less than tech saavy folks who don't know any better.
Their online purchase option with in store pickup is almost criminal with it's
false promises and lack of honesty...
Stay away from Best Buy... They deserve to just fade away like Circuit City.
Apple, You taint your reputation by dealing with this Painted Lady.:mad:

A bunch of ********* kids I'm guessing. "Oh, lets steal the $400 Xbox instead of the $1500 TV or the laptop." What is this world coming to??
Back when I was about 8, we were jacked. However it was our house and the house next to us. We lost all of our console GAMES, the system still there. The other house lost their console SYSTEM, the games still there. Its nice to know that the world has not changed 10 years later.

Whatever, he is a no talent hack, and a dumbass.
"AIDS is a man-made disease in the first place, that was placed in Africa just like crack was placed in the black community to break up the Black Panther party."
He also criticised politicians for "riding home in their Benzs and Bentleys while poor Africans starve".
I wonder what he drives......

PowerBook G5s, of course!
No, really... I don't think we should expect too much out of the ordinary. iTV, updated iPod(s), new revision of MacBook Pro (perhaps), and Leopard, iLife and iWork updates.
The .Mac stuff is usually under-the-radar, but I suspect something new will come sometime before the keynote.
[Edit: I can't spell 'Leopard' - so shoot me.]

As an Apple user, I'm thrilled that I'm not afflicted with the need to put down Windows in order to boost my ego.
That's the difference between an apple user and apple fanboy ;)
I use the tool that best suits my needs, up till now its been apple hardware and apple software for me but that doesn't mean it will be the case in the future.
The cost of apple computers is such that I need to be sure it actually solves a need before I plunk down a lot $$ on it, just so I can show off that cool apple logo on the back

Can't someone put the Keynote on Youtube? Then MR can link to it, and that way the people who are having problems connecting to the stream can also enjoy the show...
Does ne1 like to capture the stream and put it online? That'd be awesome!:cool:

Also Aero Peek,
control-tab and windows (command key?)-tab offer some cool ways to swap around active applications.
Aero Peek is definitely one of my favorite features in W7. However I still find Expos/Spaces to suit my workflow better. I think Aero Snap though, is only a feature because of many apps and users desire to run full screen all the time.
The price of office is built into the price of the computer, just as the price of iLife is built into the price of a mac - standard accounting practice. You're really not getting iLife for free just like you're not getting office for free.
Picking a random PC from Best Buy (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Lenovo+-+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Pentium%26%23174%3B+Processor+/+15.6%22+Display+/+2GB+Memory+/+320GB+Hard+Drive+-+Black/1954496.p?id=1218303031767&skuId=1954496). I see:
Software package included
With Microsoft Office Starter 2010 (product key card required for activation; sold separately).
I think it's hard to compare that to iLife. (I realize Office Starter 2010 can do some limited stuff, but it's designed to upsell you on one of the other packages.)
