Ugh Quicktime is terrible and needs to die. I dislike it almost as much as I disliked realplayer back in the late 90's.

At least not in the base model. In theory, Apple could replace the 3.2GHz quad BTO option with 3.2GHz 6-core but personally, I doubt that. However, you can buy the base model and do the upgrade on your own.

This is indeed a well known issue with cubes. Some people were affected immediately, and others only after a period of time like you.
My cube has a 'seizure' about once every 4 months and it will do this for an hour or two and then correct itself and be fine again.
There have been numerous causes and solutions suggested and it appears that different things work for different machines.
The usual cause is the proximity switch - the touch sensitive one on top of the cube. Most people report that the switching on and off is caused by a badly fitting or loose gasket around this switch inside the cube.
Some people say that making sure this gasket is seated firmly will cure the problem, and others have had this replaced (for free) by Apple.
I have never found this to be the case with mine, it just seems to have a mind of its own, for short spells every now and again.
Some people have also reported that this happens on hot days or when the air-con is swithed off. I've not noticed this (as I live in the UK it never gets hot!).
There have been hundreds of discussions on this topic since the cube was introduced and you can probably find some useful info on the web.
I'm not sure why Apple have not provided more help on this topic given what a widespread issue it was/is, but I just searched Google for "Apple Cube Switch problem" and it came back with a lot of links. Bear in mind that the solution for one cube may not help yours! I guess this is the price we have to pay for having the coolest computer the world has ever seen :D
Cheers,
Dobbin

don't be too worried my computer came out just fine during the upgrade. everything was left just the way it was. It was a very painless upgrade but that's a good thing :). Everyone have fun with the your new toy. :apple:

It's definitely possible to mess up the jailbreak, but dam near impossible to brick your iPad...
you can always do a factory restore... and when you can't (meaning you bricked it), and you're still within your warranty, just take it back to the Apple Store and get another..
if you can't restore it, they won't be able to either.. ;) :apple:
not right then and there, so they'll give you another iPad for you to go home and try to jailbreak all over again... or your experience will have scared your desire to jailbreak right out of you...

Those numbers are really nice but how relevant are they, I mean does Amazon US sell a lot of computers and/or peripherals? (Over here, most people buy articles such as books, CD, DVDs, software, etc. from Amazon).

In my second post on this thread, I stated that I just reset the iPad and still have the same problem.
did you restore from backup? settings still get transfered.
i had a 1st gen iPhone that i jail broke, and enabled the emoji keyboard. It's still enabled on my current phone, even though i un-jailbroke the 1st gen, eventually changed to a 3G (used it both jailbroken and not) and changed to a 4 (currently un-jailbroken).
so yes, even though you restored to the stock OS, it can still be affected by having been jailbroken in the past.
you'll probably have to do a clean install, and start all your settings over from scratch.

TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Hi Robert Kaplarczuk,
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Thank you for contacting Monoprice Tech Support.
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): My name is Lacey H.. Give me a moment while I review your question.
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): How are you doing today Robert Kaplarczuk?
Robert Kaplarczuk: very good I'm going to be purchasing the new iMacs and had a question about the HDMI converter
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Alright, how can I help you with that?
Robert Kaplarczuk: it says that it goes in the mini display port which the new iMacs have
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Correct
Robert Kaplarczuk: however at the botom of the page it also says thunderbolt compatible which the iMacs also have
Robert Kaplarczuk: how is it t
Robert Kaplarczuk: hunderbolt compatible
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Correct
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): it it FULLY thunderbolt compatible
Robert Kaplarczuk: so it can be connected to the thunderbolt port as well?
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Yes, the thunderbolt port is a mini displayport, basically an upgraded mini displayport port
Robert Kaplarczuk: ok thank you\
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Robert Kaplarczuk: so basically any mini display port wire ordevice can be used in a thunderbolt
TS - Lacey H (Level 3): Yes, thunderbolt is fully backwards compatible, however that does not mean it will give your devices thunderbolt compatibility if they have the previous displayport version.
Robert Kaplarczuk: thank you
Question guys:
What she mean by previous display port version? Does her explanation mean that certain devices do not have to have Thunderbolt ports only mini display ports to plug ihnto the thunderbolt port?

SL is stable and solid for me. Leopard was Apple's Vista
Except leopard ran great right from 10.5.0. If anything Apple could ever be compared to Vista, it'd be 10.0 & 10.1. To be fair to microsoft though, 10.0 & 10.1 were considerably worse than vista. It wasn't til 10.2 that OS X actually became a usable OS.

You'll probably have to try it to find out for sure.
However, a google search for IOConnectCallMethod found this:
http://lists.apple.com/archives/darwin-drivers/2008/mar/msg00007.html
It suggests IOConnectCall* functions are newer replacements for older deprecated functions. So using the older functions WOULD get you rejected, but the newer ones, I dunno: try it and see what happens.
Yeah, there's reference to them in the 64 bit porting guide but little of any use:
http://developer.apple.com/library/mac/#documentation/Darwin/Conceptual/64bitPorting/KernelExtensionsandDrivers/KernelExtensionsandDrivers.html%23//apple_ref/doc/uid/TP40001064-CH227-SW1

I'd probably just do the base 13", if you're getting an i7 iMac.
You talking about the 2.3 GHz i5 for $1199, wow I didn't even think of that option. Now I gotta look up the benchmarks for that model :P

If you visit the Network settings in System Preferences using the 3rd button next to the plus and minus you can tell OS X which connections to prioritise over others.

How is this thread ridiculous? Is someone on here already tried any of those and it didn't work or did work. Perhaps they can share with us. Nothing ridiculous about it.

Errrrm YES page 8 of the "When is the iPad 2 jailbreakcoming out?" (http://forums.macrumors.com/showpost.php?p=12491841&postcount=199) thread.

Have you tried Power Cycling? Turn off your computer, and unplug the Airport Router and the cable modem. Wait a minute, and then plug everything back in.
