Bank denied a consumer loan ,after approval due to immigration status specifically they said no loan unless you are a citizen. i am a permanent resident , leaving in the US for over 15 years. Applying for naturalization this year. Also the same bank had approved a consumer loan 2 years ago and now they say "oh we made a mistake then". Case or no case? I think I have been discriminated against.

My dad health is not stable and has been admitted to hospital. I would like to visit him. Does this qualify for emergency appointment. Mine is H1 revalidation.

I don't think it is not a issue as my friend's father also a retired Navy personel with the INdian Navy had no issues. All he had to so is show that he is a retired personnel and may have to show proof that he is just coming to visit and not to stay back.

Do you mean, file I-140 first and wait till it's approved before you file for 485? If that's what you are thinking, my advise is that filing for 485 is not a luxury that you can avail yourself whenever it suits you. You must grab the chance as soon as your PD is current becaue you never know when it would be current again unless of course you fall in to EB2 ROW or a higher category. And please note that these days I-140 takes much longer than 6 months to get approved and Premium Processing is no longer in the offer.

When you file 140 separately, the file goes to officers who only deal with 140's.
Does anybody on here know of these risks/disadvantages of filing concurrently. I was under the impression that it was better to do this, but now I stand contradicted!

Dates moving back is a once in 10 year event (not a guess but actual stats).
The July fiasco type thing happening again is almost nil !

Me and my wife used AP at SF airport couple of months ago. The process was very smooth and IOs know exactly what to do with this document. However you will be sent to secondary and you will have to wait there for around 30 minutes (sounds like normal process everywhere else too).

Thanks for sharing your experience.. BTW, were you using your AP for the first time? I have heard that while traveling on AP you need to go through secondary screen, which takes time. Is that true?
Yes you have to go to secondary inspection. Time depends on how many other people are referred to secondary inspection. There will be some with AP some with other issues. In my case, there were 7-8 people ahead of us and it took close to 90 minutes.

Most Indian companies fall under the same category, it depends on what you want to achieve in your career. It might be a great idea to join a company like Satyam as a senior exec taking on offshoring strategy execution, but if you are looking for a consultant job on H1, the experience might be similar to Infy, Wipro et al. Make sure you ask for - 1) A good deserving salary along with Cost of living benefits 2) Commitment (Written) on GC sponsorship 3) Relocation benefits (if they are going to move you every 6 months, they better pay all of what you incur) 4) The customer you are going to work for and your job responsibilities (for all you know they might get you in as Programmer then make you just coordinate stuff with offshore or "support" their applications onsite; both are big time career killers).

This is regarding status, if GC or CITIZEN there should not be any problem. If its H1B visa, then it should have validity. Means H1B visa should not have expired. I heard this story from my brother in law and in fact travel agents know this and they themselves advice on this. Those with expired H1B visa cannot travel through EUROPE. So my brother in law went to India through middle east.

Otherwise all the employer is supposed to do is to abandon the process further or inother words they will not continue to the next stage (485) if PD were to become current.
This is what I get from watching several discussions on various forums. If you have other information please post.

Attorney needs to ask for PD porting while applying new I140. Once new I140 is approved with old PD then send a interfiling letter along with a copy of new approved I140 for adjustment of the pending I485 which is based on old I140.

I see no reason why you cant move to permanent offer.
Is it not risky to move when your RFE response is pending? I worked for just 2 employers for 9 yrs between 2000 -- 2009
then since March I have so far been with 2 employers and now 3rd PERM offer.. I am concerned if that can create issues..
