I would have rather let Osama bin Laden go undiscovered than torture someone to find out where he was.
But what if torturing a person who is involved in the plans of a terrorist attack could prevent thousands of deaths?
Torturing would never be a good action, but it is like killing someone to defend yourself, killing is bad, but the result of killing saved your life.
In the case of torture, it is the government defending its people (country). If it can be avoided better, but I would rather authorize torture instead of letting attacks happen.
EDIT: As with everything, every single case needs to be analyzed separately.

I served this country for all most a decade as a U.S.Navy Officer and it has aggravated me from the start when the Bush Administration started making excuses to torture because we have bunches of soldiers at risk. Prior to this we had the moral high ground to say that torturing is not moral. Not that U.S. soldiers were never tortured, but by this action we have put US POWS at greater risk and now if we say "It's not right to torture", we'll just be laughed at. Keep in mind this policy was put into place by ******* gun-ho politicians who never served in a war, did not think or care about ramifications/blowback.

Here are the questions that remain to be officially answered:
Which voice plans qualify and which don't?
For those using Google Voice, is your own Google Voice number (since GV can be configured to call you) considered landline or mobile? What about the GV passthrough numbers for your non-GV contacts?
So the A-list and rollover minutes essentially became useful only for U.S. landline numbers, correct?
the fine print states it has to be a direct mobile number, so Google Voice probably doesn't qualify

I'm currently recording with a MXL 991 condenser through my M-audio Fast Track Pro.
It seems to have a pretty weak built-in preamp as I have to turn the gain up around 90% to get a decent sound from it which is, of course, quite fuzzy.
I've also heard that the MXL 990 series are fairly low-output mics.
Any solutions?
Small, decent, affordable preamps?
anything

Fair enough. I'd be interested in your thoughts on Post No. 50, if you have any.
I agree with the notion that people should try to take steps to avoid risk, and that people can greatly reduce personal risk by making safer choices.
But this nugget of wisdom does not really touch on the substance of the issue arising in the OP, to wit - how much responsiblity does a rape victim carry? Or, to turn the question around, how much of the rape is not the rapist's fault?
What kind of twisted logic hears of a rape decides that looking "like a prostitute" is the salient feature of the case? What about the crazed deviant who committed the crime in the first place? Indeed, I think Gelfin's analogy is apt - if a smartly-dressed man is mugged, should we simply shrug our shoulders and say "well, he looked like he had a lot of money so he was asking for it. He should have been wearing something less ostentatious."
It's also, by the way, fallacious to assume that only young, attractive and/or scantily-clad women are raped. Such suppositions are the product of the same twisted male chauvinist perspective that suggests that looking "like a prostitute" means that women are "asking for it".

I prefer iOS to Android, but I have to say that the built-in maps of Android absolutely trounce Apple's offering in every way (and I'd further suggest they're better than any GPS app you can currently buy).

Er, not necessarily. Age of consent laws vary widely... in most jurisdictions, an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old can pretty much do whatever they want.
really, well i did not know that, go figure.

Saft Demo
Anyone know how to remove Saft 7.5.5 Demo from Safari?
Thanks
If you haven't found the answer to your question here is what I did.
I found the answer on:
http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Installation/index.html
It recomends
Removal
Run Saft Installer and choose uninstall, or Move Saft in /Library/InputManagers to Trash.
I ran the Saft installer but did not get the choice to uninstall so I moved
/Library/InputManagers to Trash and that did the trick.

In the $25K sedan segment, I would consider the Ford Fusion first. At $40K, the Infinity G37 and BMW 3 series win.
