Any additional thoughts / opinions on getting travel insurance ? My uncle and aunt are coming over for 3 months in the summer. My uncle is 65 with typical BP/ Heart problem issues and aunt has no medical problem. Is ICICI Lombardi the best option ?
Any other viewsand recomendations from those who have actually had to use the insurance and submit a claim etc ?
Thanks

I'm a new member on this forum and my case got transferred to MOUNT LAUREL, NJ office.
History:
My 485 was filed in NSC in July'2007.
I have 2 I-140 petitions, and dates are current(Eb2 India).
Code 3 FP done in Dec'2007 and Name check and FBI background checks cleared.
Case got transferred from NSC to local office in April'2009
After about 8 days of transfer to the local office I received Code 1 Finger print notices.
What does that mean? Any one had similar experiences?
Here is the message I got last month.
We transferred this I485 APPLICATION TO REGISTER PERMANENT RESIDENCE OR TO ADJUST STATUS to our MOUNT LAUREL, NJ location for processing because they now have jurisdiction over the case. We sent you a notice of this transfer. Please follow any instructions on this notice. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done. This case has been sent to our, MOUNT LAUREL, NJ location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.
Thanks for the link. Looks like I will have to get ready for an interview!!!!

IMHO.. one thing for sure is that post school u need to join the same position as filed for GC. However being non resident has nothing to do with USICS. It's to do with IRS and the state tax agencies. Also, you wont go on "F-1" visa since you'll use AP. But you do need an I-20.(two different things ...similar to I-797 and H1)
So, the question to be asked is not "Can one goto F-1 visa after filing EAD" rather "Can one goto school after filing EAD ?".
I don't quite understand why one can't ( I'm sure there are reasons) If a person can stay at home or be self employed after applying for EAD/AP. Then IMHO that person can goto school too.
I think you can, however u need to join the same position for which the GC was filed and u need to be paying taxes.
Any suggestions ? .. also, what happens if your spouse is on F1 when the primary applicant files for 485/EAD/AP?

Himu, I have been following IV for months now and have been doing my small part lately. I wanted to post this because like you I also want other readers to be aware of what other people think of Senior Members. I dont share your sentiments where you say Senior Members have heckled people (I am also a Junior Member). In fact they have been more then helping.
Now, lets talk about the point you have raised. Tell me, which part of janakp's post you found heckling or offensive? To me he is giving the obvious answer, which anyone following the forums should have known already. We can do this, we can do that and of course everything that we can come up with but for everything we need VITAMIN M (DOLLARS).
My friend you must be aware that we are short of it (as you seem to be an avid follower of IV). As far as I understand we barely have the money for lobbying. So, I ask you what would be your response to any idea, which needs money to be fulfilled?
Just want to make sure over here .You think janakp telling nath.exists to start contributing (if he is not already doing so) to achieve our common goals is heckling Check for yourself (http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/heckling)?
.............................................
$60 + $20 (recurring contribution)
I understand your point. Only thing i wanted to suggest is that we should give response related to the question. Contribution is an integral part of what we need to do. People who are here understand that whether they are contributing or not.

Check with this:
If I filed my case previously without an application for employment authorization or advance parole, how do I apply now for those benefits?
If you failed to apply for work card or a travel document at the time you filed your adjustment of status application, you need to wait until you received a receipt for the I-485 petition. You can then apply for work and travel benefits by providing a copy of the receipt along with the other forms and supporting documentation.

That was just what I knew. For example NV does the same because they dont have state tax. They don't see a reason why they should give instate for people on temporary visas and do not pay taxes to the state. They consider us as people who are here on Non Immigrant visas who will leave any time. As you said ,TX might be more considerate.

1. First USCIS has to collect tons of applications that will be filed .
2. They have to issue receipt number for all of them , which needs data entry . I am guessing at least it will take 5 more months to issue receipts.
3. They should start processing tons of APs and EADs , I will not be surprised if they introduce premium processing for these two.
4. Once receipts are issued they probably sort according to the priority date . This sorting may take anywhere between 6 to 9 months.
5. Once sorted they start the initial processing . Meanwhile your FPs/693 might have expired so they will send a letter or RFE (FOR USCIS your application can not go forward ...)
6. So dont expect anything to happen in 4 to 5 years even if your priority date is 2001.
Only thing I hope is you have not been waiting for GC since 2001. Hope you entered the game later than that ...
Good luck with everything

Guys,
here's my thoughts on this; If her h1 gets stamped she doesn't need AP. however if H1 gets rejected for some reason, in that case she can stay back in India until I recieve the AP documents. I send it to her then she can travel back on AP. ??
Any Suggestions or gyan on this !!!
-shree
I dont think you will be able to do this, I am not sure but I think one should be present in US at the time of AP approval only then they can use that Advance parole to leave and re enter.
May be converting back to H4 and attend for visa as dependent is an option. Ask your lawyer.

My H-1 started in Oct'03 and is supposed to complete it's 6 yr term on Oct'09. But, my current H-1 (with my current employer) shows an expiry date of Apr'09 (same with the stamped visa on passport) - I don't know the reason for this.
My labor (EB2-PERM) and I-140 has been cleared/approved; Priority date is July 2006.
I'm being offered a F/T position in one of the Big 5 consulting firms - nice offer. But, they categorically state that "there is no guarantee of GC, upon completion of one/two year". I've been told that this is standard practice for them to say this, and they normally start your GC after one year if you have less than 2 yrs, left. Even, the HR rep. told me the same thing - just that they don't offer a commitment, due to changing market conditions.
My question - Is it advisable to change? Any ideas/thoughts on any chances whatsoever of "Immigration Reform" happening this year?
Should I just stay put (with my approved I-140), or should I change (which seems risky)?
Also, this "Big 5" firm processes GC in the EB-3 category - I know this for a fact (unless the position offered is of a "Manager", which is not the case with me).
Pl. advise. Thanks.

Guys,
Vote for Change. I know you are feeling left out of the presidential caucuses and primaries. Here is your chance. Vote for change, for Admin fixes, change your quality of life and help American economy at the same time by freeing up pent up Entrepreneurial energy and other decisions e.g. buy a house. Ben Bernanke/ USCIS/ President's office, if you are reading this: Empower this sizable chunk of legal immigrants to help kick-start the American economy.
I only see one vote and that too mine on the attendance poll above.
Don't let anyone take your vote and your voice for granted.
Btw, those snacks are not going to finish themselves and I am watching my weight (New Year resolution). Need your active participation. Sign n Dine!
Show me your vote (for Sunday event attendance)
I am gsc999, and I approve this message :)

I m on h1b and my I485 application is pending. Also i have recieved EAD valid till Sept 2010. I m on H1 Visa status with current company. if i get laid off, how do i move my status from H1 to EAD after layoff?
I m planning to take 2 or 3 months break if i get layoff and then plan to find another job on EAD. Is there any problem to assume ,my status will be automatically change to EAD if i get layoff while on h1.
