The fact that congress cannot construct a budget is simply a failure of them to perform their duties. Part of the reason is that the motivation to avoid a shutdown isn't great enough, thus I propose a two-fold solution to motivate them a little
1) Congress persons do not get paid during the shutdown. Perhaps if they were to not get paid they would be more motivated.
2) In the event of a shutdown all members of congress immediately become ineligible to run for re-election for their current position and ineligible to run in any other federal election. Since a shutdown means they've failed, they shouldn't be allowed to continue.
First off, nice location! :D (born/raised in Omaha)
I'd go a bit further on your first solution. If they don't pass a budget by a given day, not only do they not get paid during the shutdown, but their pay goes towards keeping the government running while they work on that budget. In short, if they don't pass it, they work for free until they get it.
I still say that during the SOTU, Obama should have told everyone that he is putting the presidential salary towards the budget, and have asked Congress to do the same. Then sit back and see what they do. If they don't, they would have shown who they really are to their constituents. This goes for both Blues, Reds, and any/all parties inbetween.

I was not sure where to post this, I have emailed MacRumors several times, but with no reply.
I can pull up the main page of wap.macrumours.com but when clicking next page I get a response unknown error with my Nokia 3200.
This also happened on my old 7210 phone too.
This would indicate non complaint wml code on the 2nd page, as this is the error Nokia's tend to give (they do not attempt to display non complaint code)
Thanks
Neil
works for me, on some nokia, i don't know what kind, but it's like tan-ish and has a color screen.

Lemme' guess - it's going to be distributed through the app store, and everytime there is an update, you have to download an 8 GB install program for each update, ala XCode 4

LOL! I'm sure glad I wasn't the only one thinking this. Previous notices came out with the update. Oh well. I was so hopeful that it was for a 3rd update.
You know, these downloadable updates seem to be more substantial than simple updates and their build iterations are also indicative of somer much more serious changes. I hope they keep with the downloadable updates until we need to test the installer more.

I have a few questions, as I will be in London all day and want to be one of the first 500 (i.e. T-Shirt time :D):
1. Do you there will be a long queue?
2. What time should I get there to make sure I'm one of the first?
Thanks

I wonder who the first manufacturer was to create a dock connector? I assume IBM? They should sue Apple and give them a piece of their own medicine. You know if the shoe was on the other foot. . .
The patent is for Apple's specific 30 pin dock connector, and not any dock connector. It's legal protection to allow Apple to go after anyone making unauthorized accessories, not anyone making dock like connectors in general. Instead of suing over "Hey, you didn't use our Made for iPod program", they can sue over "Hey, you violated our patent."

It took a "research firm" to figure this out? I don't know why people were expecting Verizon to get it before T-mobile. All carriers will get it eventually but it makes only sense that the one also using the GSM network will get it first.

Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
Why would you say that unless you're trying to get people stirred up? They all appear to be drinking water (which seems odd and rather sobering)!

Ping me if you are interested in a used GT120. It's only 5 months old or so, and I've got the receipt, etc.
Why do I want to sell? Under current conditions (Snow Leopard, applications etc) all my 3d apps default to the GT120 rather than my 4870 for rendering OpenGL, which slows my work in c4d and vue.
Oh, is there any way to change that? I do a lot of Maya and AE, will it affect those too? Like, If I were to use to hook up my third monitor to the GT120 and had a Maya window on it, would it use that or the 5870 to render? And if I had 3 monitors on my 5870 rather than 2, would that slow it down any?

It appears that a deal has been made.
Yeah, CNN, NYT and Politico are all reporting a short term deal has been made.
How gracious of Boehner.

Yes, MacRumors has it's own IRC, but which one?
http://www.macrumorslive.com/irc/login/ says it's irc.macrumorslive.com and the post you refferenced is irc.krono.net (which doesn't work BTW) the post you linked to was from 2003.

Wait, why would anyone want a capacitive Home button? It'd be such a nuisance to tap/touch it by accident. I don't like it :(

Instead of suing everyone, kodak needs to get on this retro kick and start selling kodachrome camera's and film again for cheap. Stop using digital, start developing.
Did Kodak stop making film? Doesn't the niche film market already buy Kodak film.... and get cool cameras from Goodwill?
That doesn't seem to be helping EK. I think they might need to innovate their way out of their slump. Suing, right or wrong (I don't pretend to understand), will not keep them afloat forever... especially when their patents expire.
Speaking of that... let's see:
a 20 yr patent granted in 1996, probably filed in 1995
a lawsuit in 2011 that might take a bit of time if it isn't settled
More lawsuits to come if they are successful.
...Kodak seems to be cutting this a little close.

The above three posts are my best effort translating. That PC guy talks insanely fast. ;)
So I wasn't the only one that thought that too.... clean Nihongo, but fast Nihongo.
I think they're pretty dang funny, even if it is a direct translation.

The iMac 27" is my favorite.. none of the all-in-ones it's compared to are even the same size on that chart. Even if you build a computer with the same equipment it's more:
---------------------------------------------------------
$1100+ for the 27" IPS monitor from Dell (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&s=bsd&sku=224-8284&redirect=1)
$150-250 for the processor (i5 2390(I think)) according to Intel (http://ark.intel.com/Product.aspx?id=52211)
$120+ for the graphics card (desktop version, not sure about the mobile) according to Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102940&cm_re=Radeon_6770-_-14-102-940-_-Product)
Anywhere from $100 to $500+ for the tower and necessary equipment ( just depends on what tower, cooling etc. you purchase)
$100 for the Windows license according to Newegg Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832116986)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
$1470 at the minimum, probably paying more or less for certain items, if you do it yourself. Probably higher cost if you buy it from a manufacturer. Either way not everything comes in a nice single package like the iMac does (which does have advantages/disadvantages). Plus the hours you get to spend putting it together if you do decide to build it yourself.
