Since there are no formal announcements schedule. Apple will just bring down the store, and the new products will appear.

They've recently done this when they announced the Mac Book, and the updated iMac Core 2 Duo's...

Apple always keeps us on the edge, because we just don't know how they will announce their new products...

Windows 7 kicks ass, it's every bit as good as Snow Leopard if not better.

When Windows starts to come close to SL in terms of ease of use and functionality let me know ;)

the tide is turning against Apple here, they need to clean up their act and get this whole thing working better.

i understand the walled-garden approach and respect that, but they also need to get the store cleaned up/organized and they need to work better with developers - which might just mean hiring more people to work with them on a daily basis.

You really think so? Three programs between these two development teams. Facebook and then these two. Yeah I see a huge tide turning right now. Please.

And the paid app didn't even sell that well.

Educated guess would be "big" iPod sales will slump whilst the Nanos & Shuffles will skyrocket. At these new lower price points that reads pretty UN-educated to me. On secopnd thought though since many of US - not the general public - are waiting for the 640x360 widescreen video iPod, this would be a miss.

I htink it's pretty lousy of Apple not to provide the firmware update to allow original 5G Video iPods to load and play Baseline H.264 640x480 self-encoded video. I'm mad about it.

If Apple can show a version of Aperture which will run smoothly on a Mac Pro, then my two grand is practically theirs already...

An iCamera (CameraPro?) of some kind would be nice, though highly unlikely.

Apple Insider was saying the movie price would be $14.99 -I would not pay that much to watch a movie on a small screen... no way, unless I had a hour long commute to work on a train... can't believe there are that many people like that out there!

This may be on the rosy side, but I assume that $14.99 for new titles and $9.99 for catalog titles means higher resolution. Otherwise, a movie is 7x the cost of a TV episode with no added value, which just doesn't sound like something Apple would do.

The higher resolution would allow you to (somehow) play the episode directly to your TV and burn a copy on DVD. The biggest problem is size. It would take as long to download a 2-hour movie in HD (or even SD) as it would to watch it.

I hope Apple gets this movie thing right.

That's interesting, I didn't know they did that. That's nice that they let them use the icons. I guess it reminds people go out and buy photoshop. :)

Mhm :) That's why you can export Office and iWork files to .pdf from in the program, without having to buy Acrobat.

There is just so much wrong with 100% of your post. I can't even begin, nor will I spend time, contradicting every sentence.

In short, there is no war between Apple and Microsoft...nor has been for decades. Also, you think Apple is not a monopoly? Apple makes the hardware, the OS, the apps, and Appstore, and APPROVES what apps consumers can purchase. No...that's not a monopoly. No, sir.

That is wrong. Apple has no more of a monopoly on the iPhone as Samsung has one for the Galaxy. For Apple to have a monopoly, there would be few to no companies making smart phones. There are dozens of smart phone companies, 5 or so mobile OSs, many App Stores and all exert some control (that they decided on) over your device. So, no, that's not a monopoly.

DailyTech reports (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3228) that the Non-Disclosure for performance benchmarks on Intel's upcoming Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors was lifted today. The new processors, code named Conroe, are the desktop versions of the Core Duo processors which currently reside in Apple's MacBook, MacBook Pro and iMac computers.

Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors have a plethora of new features including Intel Wide Dynamic Execution, Intel Smart Memory Access, Intel Advanced Smart Cache and Intel Advanced Digital Media Boost.

The Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme could make their Mac debut in Apple's PowerMac computers which are rumored to be released on August 7th 2006 at the World Wide Developers Conference.

Intel is expected to start shipping the new processors on July 23rd with an official announcement on July 27th. The Core 2 Duo will have clock speeds of 1.86GHz, 2.13GHz, 2.4GHz and 2.67GHz while the Core 2 Extreme will clock in at 2.93GHz. All share a 1066MHz front side bus with between 2-4MB of L2 cache. Pricing for the chips range from $183 to $999 per chip.

As mentioned above, a number of benchmarks of the new chips have been released today, with DailyTech providing a roundup (http://www.dailytech.com/article.aspx?newsid=3319) of many reviews.

Why do I feel like you are one of the people who purposely try to slow people down because you need to be on some higher moral ground and make sure the entire world does the speed you believe is safe?

Sorry, but I'm not. I try and avoid idiots on the highway. But why do I get the feeling that you are going to tell me that driving 90+ is perfectly safe cause you are such a wonderful driver.

I know that it is a desktop chip but I would expect that a site like anandtech or tomshardware would check againt the core duo just to see how much the difference is between the two "core" CPU.

First, no I made no such claim. I responded to one. And the claim wasn't that it will be restricted to being Mac only, but that it will end up being Mac only, in the same sense that FW is. Some PC ship with FW, but not many. It is considered a Mac only interface. The gist is that TB may as well, if history repeats. You didn't prove anything. You see many PC's shipping with TB right now? How many PC vendors have announces support for TB? The unfortunate fact is that consumers know the USB brand, so the vendors will support it. TB might be in Intel's spec, but that doesn't mean every system will support it nor that many drive vendors will either. No. The claim simply stated 'Mac only'. Nothing more and nothing less and you agreed with said two word claim. Thunderbolt will be integrated into every Ivy Bridge chipset just like USB 3.0. It's not the same situation as FireWire in the slightest. Not only is it faster than USB 3.0 but it also works with USB via adapters as well as almost any other IO on the planet. FireWire worked only with FireWire devices.

See econgeek's post. It explains is pretty well.

You mean the one right above your post that proves you wrong? Funny stuff.

    My prediction:

    Definiantly:
    Aperture 2.0 ($299)
    MacBook Pro:
    2 15" and 1 17" model with 2.16 and 2.33 GHz Merom
1 GB RAM standdard, up to 3 or 4 GB
    100 and 120 GB HDD's, up to 160 GB
8x DVD+/-RW DL drives for all
    X1600 Pro in low-end 15" and X1800 Pro/XT in hi-end 15" and 17"
    FW800 on all models
    Magnetic latch (no integrated keyboard)
    Expresscard/54 slot on all models
    $1899 - $2299 - $2499

    Maybe:
iPhone with 3.2 mpx camera by Canon
    New displays
    PowerBook G5

    Unikely:
802.11 n (in MacPro and MacBook Pro)
    New iSight with IR reciever
    MacBook

I'm thinking 2 of those listed under "maybe" are definites. :p

Sounds like a set of chips to me ;)

    dave

There is no "Napa chipset". Like I said, Napa is a hardware-platfom, composed to CPU (Yonah), chipset (Intel Express 945) and WLAN ()Intel PRO/Wireless). The amount of RAM might be limited due to timing-issues and the like.

Gonna need a few more shares to make any money, but good effort. ;)

    iStudentUK

    To some extent, sure.

The big difference is that in the UK you can get cars which do 55 miles per US gallon, one that does that - the 17,345 1.6 Econetic Ford Focus does nearly 62 miles per US gallon.

And that car is made by a US company.

55 miles to the gallon isn't even abnormal, a lot of standard hatchbacks/small family cars do that and more.
