I can't see how those of us wanting to hook things up to our 27" iMac could be a that small group. I'm more inclined to believe this limitation has to do with Apple protectionism. I mean, like I said in a post a few pages up, there are no industry standard input ports (HDMI/DVI...) and the TB port is limited to only a small fraction of a ppm of the input devices on the market.
Sure hoping for a way to work arond Apple on this one, without going the usual Apple route - with a gazillion adapters.
Yep- I agree. There should always be one legacy port on a device. Mini display port would be the one.

After looking around the apple website this morning.. I don't believe that we are getting the new chips until AFTER the iPod rebate offer.. and here is why.
The only legal way Apple could offer the new processor would be to offer it ONLY to out-of-education persons. If you read the fine print of the Apple iPod offer, it ONLY lists the current models (and G4) as acceptable units to use when filing a rebate.... if they were to place the new chip models on the store, it would invalidate the rebate, should someone have the old rebate forms, and a new machine. Just a thought.
But in Europe this same rebate ends at October 7th, 2006...

saw a post on ilounge earlier.... that said this guy went to his local apple store, and they said to wait until next week (the 5th) because imacs and mac minis would have core 2 duos.
if this is true, then this event on 9/12 will most definetely be strictly ipod/itunes related. :)

I didn't even know there was an Expo on!
Anyway, before anyone even considers their opinion on the work of Greenpeace, they should read The Skeptical Environmentalist by Bjorn Lomborg (http://www.lomborg.com/).

One step closer to the MacBook Air update.
Weren't they just updated in October? Yes it may be closer, but not for a while yet considering the last update was over a year.

And as I said, they are their number one customer, also as reported in the WSJ. If you don't think some bonuses were rewarded at Samsung for landing the account with Apple, and that your number one customer isn't important, then you know very little about business.
First, Apple is not Samsung's biggest customer. Sony is (link (http://www.mobiledia.com/news/87370.html)). Secondly, Apple is not your regular customer. They are the customer that is suing them! It's not your regular business situation. Thirdly, Samsung is the biggest supplier of LCDs, RAMs and flash memory. Apple simply can not replace them (there is no spare capacity available around). That's why Apple will be screwed.

Always one in a bunch who brings up a personal experience to shock people into shutting up. My sister was eaten by a hyena. No hyena jokes please.
Would you like more? Maybe people should stop DUI.
My sister was run over by a drunk 6-8 years ago, broken leg. I think all the pins have been removed.
A teenage driver was killed in a head-on directly in front of my house (30 mph road) by a guy doing 50+, over the limit on alcohol, and with marijuana in his blood. His mother still keeps a memorial on the corner across the street. That has also been around 10 years.

Ultimately: who cares?
Bono still sucks, U2 has always sucked, and, much as i like a) the color of the new iPod and b) fighting AIDS, Apple's weird extended relationship with Bono makes very little sense to me.
P.S. Damn, Bono sucks.
Yes, I'm sure you came to that conclusion after spending countless hours with the man, learning about him, talking with him, and generally getting to know him on a human-to-human level.
Cuz, if you're just saying that he sucks as a person without having done that, it would mean you're a very sad and judgmental person who should spend much less time worrying about celebrities.
So its a good thing you got to know him before you said that, otherwise it is you who would suck.

What is it with the 24"? I would like to see something larger than 27 (as I have 30" already). Mini refresh would be nice - then I'd keep my 30".
They need to do it soon or people will wait for Lion before upgrading their hardware.
Because you are not the average consumer. i would never get a 27" as it would probably burn my retinas, and the 21" seems too small. 24 is right in the middle and perfect sized. and what is this mini iMac? 17" cheaper macbook pro on a stand? sure i guess but what is the reasoning? i guess price but if its a desktop it doesn't matter how big it is. or do they want a 900$ one?
I agree with your statement on Lion. they should go for mid-April rather than May. and besides OSX is what? 26 bucks?
Also would like a better mac mini.

Love this little gem from that press release:
Perhaps you should spend some time looking at the facts - there are non-Android Linux-based mobile systems out there.
If you knew that, the IDC comment is spot on.

Kind of a huge gap, don'cha think? For an extra $100 I can nearly TRIPLE the capacity? Why would I even consider a 30 GB model?

It is not like a mall rent a cop went up and shot the suspect in the head.
Two of them were armed and 40 shots were exchanged.
one bad guy is dead and two were captured.

Are you insinuating that Apple should put out a gaming system to compete for PS3 dollars, or just the holiday dollars in general and right now the PS3 is the "Hot Ticket" this coming Holiday season?
Just wondering.....
No, don't be so silly or literal. PS3 dollars are the money people have dedicated to buy the PS3 -- the defacto "big ticket" item this year. Apple needs a product that will compete for that money...and press converage. Everyone and their mother got an iPod last year. Apple needs to pull a fresh product out of Jobs pocket; not a storage bump or new skins for the nano. THAT is what I'm saying.

I'm not touching it until they offer 5.1 sound. I'm sure its just a matter of time, though.
I thought they had 5.1 sound already in the movie downloads?

^This.
I think Apple needs to forget about adding new stuff to MobileMe considering they can't even get the basics done right. I've had a MobileMe account since it was iTools and I've had more issues with the mail service than any other email provider I've had. That includes free webmail for crying out loud!
