But why are they charging 1.99 universally for TV eps AND (here's the rub) short commercials, SNL skits, and Pixar shorts? $2 for a 45 second to 1 minute skit??!! You have to be kidding me Apple. They need some serious revisions to their video store.I agree. While I like having a simple pricing system, i.e. $1.99 for standard TV shows. They should have other price points for items not worth $1.99. Or for SNL skits sell the entire SNL episode for $1.99 with each skit separated into a different short video file, that would be nice.

My guess for GPU would be size and heat. If you can see, there is very little wiggle room for anything else in an iMac.

Do you keep dropping calls when you hold it with your left hand (lower left corner of your phone)? If so, then why do you insist on holding your phone that way when you know for a fact that it's the reason why you keep dropping calls?
While you're waiting for Apple to come up with a fix (if ever they come up with one), why don't you hold it in a way so it doesn't drop your calls...

Magazines do not sell advertising to cover the costs of printing. They make the MAJORITY of their money through advertising. You'll often see mag subscriptions for really cheap online because they want to get the mags in as many hands as possible so they can brag to publishers about readership and charge more for ads.
I would guess the high price for iPad apps as more to do with the development costs than anything else.
Agree with some of what you said...I have a newspaper subscription that I cancelled except for weekend delivery (wife is a coupon queen)...they called a week later and said we will send you the paper all week for free just the cost of your weekend rate. This is surely to boost distribution numbers. On the otherhand development costs should be capitalized and the finance behind generating an app would be nominal. Right price would offset those costs quickly. They are just trying to get the transaction customer. If your flight is delayed and you decide to buy a magazine, you buy the appissue...

My 802.11b card transmits its MAC address on a broadcast when its on. My phone transmits its SIM card number.I think you are agreeing with their point, that our devices identify us and are not hard to track, while taking issue with their choice of example. Is that right?

doh! there goes my plans to get the iPad 3 sometime in october. i just dont think the iPad 2 is the best it could have been.There are tablets out there with a gig and a half of ram already! what's this 500 megs? nothing! and the 1GHz processor, yes dual core but still. it could have been much better.

Can't believe how many people fixate on the underlying technology, insisting that the iPad is inferior to other hardware, at the same time that they overlook, or sometimes even admit (such as you have done here) that the overall experience of the "inferior" iPad is better.
Until Motorola, or Samsung, or anyone else brings a product to market that offers a superior user experience, please refrain from criticizing the iPad for what it isn't. Especially since what it isn't doesn't even exist yet. It's one thing to compete with your competitors, but not really fair when you have to compete with your own (rumored) R&D.

I hope Steve is ok. I have to admit I'm slightly dissapointed that none of the portables or the iMac (not that surpised about the iMac) got an update. I thought for sure the MacBook Pro would see something. Oh well, silent update time now I guess.

I went to best buy as well and was number 12 & 13.
I filled out the same sheet everyone else talks about and got my GC.
They didn't tell me anything else so I went home.
When I read that some had received appointments, I called my BB to inquire about mine.
They told me that they would not be scheduling appointments until they get them in stock, probably the 22nd or 23rd. They will be giving me a call when they have mine in stock to schedule an appointment.
Hopefully they still get the 45 rumored...I hope Apple and AT&T don't try and take them :eek:
