But would they still be believers if they really read the Old Testament? The evidence within it for polytheism is rife. Worshipping Yahweh/Jehovah/El is like worshipping Zeus or Jupiter. And Satan is Baal (Beelzebub). Not many Zeus-worshippers around these days, though, are there?
Well, this is one of those areas where we disagree on the historical evidence and the interpretation. I don't see evidence in the old testament that would support the view that it was written to support polytheism or that it was a re-writing of polytheistic accounts with the goal of popularizing monotheism.
Sure, there is description of the polytheistic cultures of the Canaanite people, the Egyptians, and other people of that time, but the overarching story of God's revelation to man is unified starting with God's establishment of the covenant with Abraham.
Now, God's people were not always faithful to him. In fact the entire story of the nation of Israel is one of God attempting to unify his chosen people and their repeated failure to be consistently true to him. Even King Solomon who built the temple, fell away later in life, as he become open to idol worship.
In the old testament itself there is no confusion between Yahweh, Jehovah, Elohim or any of the other names for God. They point solely to God the father, the creator and sustainer of life. The reference to Genesis 1:26 you pointed to in your previous post is not referring to multiple gods either. You must remember that the Bible reveals God to be triune, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The "mystery" of the trinity has been debated, but scripture both, old and new testament, point to this fact and thus there are times when the original languages are in singular tense and there are also times when the original languages are in plural tense.

I would have a $97 billion surplus.
Raised the budget of NASA to $30 billion( I do believe manned space flight is important).
Made some small cuts to other organizations up until Defense. Reduced our Defense budget to $471 billion.
Pretty much halted any foreign military aid.
Reduced Education a bit.
Cut Justice a bit.
Cut housing programs a bit
Increased our transportation budget.
Increased taxes 5% for people making $30K to $100K. Raised taxes 10% for $100K to $500K. Increased taxes by 30% for making above $500K.
Increased the corporate income tax by 10%.
Create a Carbon tax that will increase energy cost by $6 a month. Increase alcohol tax to 25 cents per ounce and tax sugary drinks 1 cent per ounce.

I decided on showing dinosaurs. For this particular creature I wanted to see if I could somehow show both the detail in the bones and the size of the creature at the same time. I think I found the only place to frame it that does just that. This thing stretches across the entire atrium. The coloring just "felt right" when I was playing around in aperture with some effects presets I have.

let's hope they release it soon, although it's a bit frustrating for those who bought core duo models recently for the same price. kind of drawback on apple
Huh? Why do people keep saying things like this?
When buying a new computer you should aways take in consideration how dated the hardware is and how far ahead a new product release might be.

Personally I'm getting tired of Apple and their color choices. You have to pay more for black? What if you want 8 GB but you don't want black? What then? I'm not liking the approach Apple is taking on the color choices of their products.

yes, apple will be shooting themselves in the foot if they don't have that issue resolved in the second generation model.
does anyone know how many hrs it is until we should "expect" the announcement assuming it is going to be released within the next day.
Yeah, any kind of idea would be good...
This way apple updates their stuff is bloody annoying! You can't plan any upgrades, and I refuse to buy a macbook knowing full well that there is an update of any kind just around the corner!
As it stands I may actually need to purchase one very soon, but I don't think I could stomach buying into something this late in it's product cycle.
A big F-YOU to apple marketing

While we don't know exactly how the Firmware update was designed, it would appear as though the update will simply ignore symptoms of a SMC short circuit to allow the laptop to continue operating. If this is the case it may degrade a MacBook's ability to detect true over-heat situations.
This is what I assumed when I read that the update "resolves" the issue, which is pretty optimistic wording. Perhaps they implemented some firmware method to detect overheating that doesn't rely on the sensor. I would love to know more information, since this update will appear for everyone with a MacBook whether or not they've been experiencing the shutdowns.

I soo want it to look like this,.
Man, I soooo do not.
I'd prefer the sizing of the Mini but thinner like the Nano. I find the width to height ratio of the nano too small and fragile looking.
Want better colors and saturation also. The weak colors look lousy. Can't they do something bolder or richer like the Razor phones or some of the other phone colors out in the market.

Did the Apple engineers forget to add a music video icon on the left side of iTunes 7? Everthing else is there except music video.
That's what I'm wondering. I have tons of music videos and now there is no listing of them for me to look through.

Yep, the game has some datapads in all of the various levels. Much like the Terminals in Halo 3, and the Audio Logs in ODST, these are sort of hidden. They all tell a different bit of side story, or back story. Not really required, per se, but they do give some good info if you do hunt them down.
Thanks. I think I saw one, but obviously didn't stand close enough to be prompted to read it. Pity, as I think things like this - and the Terminals in Halo 3 - do add a lot of depth/backstory to the game. I'm just not sure if I want to go back to the start in Legendary to find them all - I'm not sure how I got past some levels the first time! ;)
She sealed herself off because of the Covenant attack on Sword Base, to try and keep herself and her research safe. At least, that is what I took of it.
That might be it. Strange that they don't really explain that in the game.
Yep, both Halo 1 & 2 work just fine on the 360. They have turned off the old Xbox Live servers, so obviously you won't be able to play Halo 2 online, but the campaigns from both games will work fine.
Halo Wars >> Reach >> Halo 1 >> Halo 2 >> ODST >> Halo 3
Cheers - I'd forgotten about Halo Wars; I haven't played that. Does that include the 'first contact' between humans & Covenant?
I also read up a little of the Halo storyline on the wikis, and - while it's possible that they simply skim the surface of it - the rest of the storyline not shown in the games does seem a bit weak and superficial to me. Which is strange, as Bungie storyline/characters are typically nice and enigmatic! ;)
Also I read that Reach may not be the last Halo game. Is the world visible at the end of the Halo 3 cinematics a hint to another game, or just 'keeping their options open'?

Here's how I look at it....
Developers are like customers. You have some customers who play by the rules and benefit the company and themselves. Then you have "those" customers who think the world owes them everything. They whine and bitch about anything and everything. They refuse to follow rules or regulations, whine when they don't get their own way, and will purposely try to manipulate and play the system to their advantage.
Eventually, the company notices and places strict guidelines, rules and restrictions to make sure "those" customers can no longer take advantage of the company. Meanwhile, the customers who do play by the rules now have to deal with the hassle of the same restrictions because "those" customers had to ruin it for everyone.
And anyone who has ever worked customer service knows exactly what I'm on about. That's the reason there is a billion lines of fine print for just about everything these days.
So instead of jumping on the whole "lets bash Apple because they're a successful corporation" bandwagon, how about blaming the people who take advantage of the system and break the rules which is what inevitably what got the rules put there in the first place.

You killed your mother because your friends laughed at you   :p

NO, She died of natural causes BUT (TRUE STORY) on August 29th, 1966 a friend showed up at my house at 6PM with two tickets to see the Beatles at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. My mother said I could not go becuase I had a drum lesson at 7PM and unless it was cancelled a day in advance, we'd have to pay. So I missed what became the last official concert the Beatles ever played.
I no longer play the drums  AND my mother is dead. :(
see not everyone here is 23...

How do you know that you are going to get a new one and not a refurbished one. And what old macbooks are you talking about, they didnt release any new ones yet. Thanks for the help. There is ZERO DIFFERENCE between a new Mac and a refurbished Mac - ZERO. You have nothing to fear buying a refurb any more than you have to fear buying a new one. Same warranty. Same quality. Different box. And sometimes when you buy a refurb, you get more than stock like two 1GB sticks of RAM and/or a bigger than stock HD for example.

For those complaining about costs - ever thought that maybe the whole purpose of negotiation is for the carrier to host and distribute those updates free of charge to end users rather than chewing up customer's monthly traffic allowance?
I wanna know how that will work for the rest of the world carriers....
