It's not going to happen. It would steal sales away from the MacBook Pro, and the cost would be minimal between the two.
IMO, it's by no means out of the question. After all, even the current 13.3" MacBooks will yet go through a number of significant upgrades in future. At some point, it's likely they'll have dedicated graphics. They just won't be on a par with the MBP's graphics (& other extras!).
So it's quite feasible, & it needn't affect MBP sales. Overall, it could also significantly increase the number of switchers from PCs!

Just looking at the ''Server Admin' screenshots posted, i noticed that in the list of Services, both AFP and NFS are missing. Is File Sharing managed somewhere else in Lion?
This seems to be all i can find and its in the server app.
I did think i saw something in server admin but after checking it again i seem to be wrong.

Now that would be something to see - the orange in front of itself. Some sort of 4th-dimensional super orange? ;)
I missed that completely - too funny.

I ordered mines online at around 12 am. I wonder if there's any chance the beta key is going to come this weekend. Should I call my local Gamestop store to claim it or do they not have any power over to do anything?

????????? doesn't make much sense, sure that is what he said? kyo ha pasokon desu? hmmm...

I agree with you. Even though ??? can be read as Konnichiwa. In most cases it will be read as Kyouwa. Usually Konnichiwa is written in Hiragana (?????). I am not saying it is not used but the Kanji usage is very rare and most Japanese will read it as Kyowa.
Linguistically the humor of the first commercial "Work vs Mac" is very Japanese. It is too the point where even as a consultant in East Asian cultures I had to watch it several times till I really got the joke. Still cannot laugh. My wife (Japanese) said it was not funny and must have been written by a Kanto comedian. If a Kansai comedian had written it, it would have been funnier.

64GB would be enough reason to get a white one if that's how they're going to market it.

What do you use to monitor the temps? I haven't found anything that works yet.
What problems *do* these EFI and SMC updates fix, exactly? BTW, according to the SMC update description, it will update it to 1.7f8, while according to System Profiler I already have that version. Must apply to to the first batch of models only?
Edit: firmware update successfully applied, no SMC update in SWU for me.
i use Temperature Monitor.
it monitors each core temp, and the hard drive temps only (same for my macbook pro)

BTW - I cannot post in the new thread you created so.. I guess my contribution will end here :)
I'm sorry, my goal wasn't to keep people out of the topic, but to make it easier to talk about the two separate topics. Why can't you post over there?

I don't see anything in Lion that would warrant that kind of pricing: some minor UI changes and lots of under-the-hood optimizations...sounds a whole lot like Snow Leopard.
Not at all. SL had no major new consumer-level features. Lion has Mission Control, Resume, Versions/autosave, Launchpad, fullscreen apps, Airdrop, full disk encryption, and rededesigned Mail/Address Book/iCal apps.

It says "MacBook" updates at this event. I hope that wasn't a typo! :D
It is not a typo, but look at the full statement: There have been rumors of Aperture updates and possibly MacBook updates at this event.
You have neglected two key words, "rumors" and "possibly." Those two words in combination like that shouldn't get your hopes up that much for a MacBook update. :(

It's about $3.90 here. But that sucks, because it costs like 65 bucks to fill my Jeep. Gas Guzzler, the price you pay to be able to drive in snow.

Hmm. If this does in fact mean a fall iPhone 5 release instead of a June release, then I would think that has to put LTE back in play for the iPhone 5.
One would have to assume that this means Apple plans to lead off its fall iPod event with the iPhone starting this year.

4S. I like the name, and it makes sense to keep continuity with the previous naming scheme (3GS). I guess we'll see a true iPhone 5 next summer.

Ill agree with you on Lack of Education and Religious Extremism. Resentment, somewhat. I tend to think that if we just leave them the heck alone to do whatever they want and be as Shariah as they please we will see less terror attempts.
Terrorism typically arises from some sort of injustice. I think there is some truth to the clich "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." But "leaving them alone" is somewhat problematic as long as we support multinational enterprise that seeks to extract maximum profit in every corner of the world. Even if the business s not based in America, America is the most prominent target.
I know it is not apples-to-apples, but I was wondering if anyone has seen the National Geographic on North Korea? One part that struck my nerve was at the end when the doctors were removing the bandages from the patients eyes, one of the North Koreans first thing to do was go praise a poster of Ill and promise to "Destroy the american scum with my new eyes" or something like that, despite the fact that much of the equipment used to complete the surgeries was American made and American funded IIRC.
Most likely, the government expects this sort of show of loyalty, when they are paying for your treatment. If you do not do this, you would probably labeled as seditiously ungrateful and they would find some way to make your life miserable.

I agree with the iPad being the computer for normal people. Many people I know have no idea how to copy and paste files on a computer, how to install a program, or how to do more complex things that for me seem completely simple. Most people don't even want to bother with putting their files into folders and renaming them. I think that "normal" people (the average person) is not comfortable with all the features of a real computer. It's like putting someone who normally drives a car into an airplane cockpit.
Anyway, the iPad at the moment could not be my only computer, but even I would enjoy having it as a secondary device to carry around to lectures and other places. I won't carry my MacBook Pro with me unless it's absolutely necessary, as it's heavy, requires sitting down and only works for a couple of hours. An iPad on the other hand, can be used while standing, it can be given to someone else easily, anyone can use it instantly. I can't just hand my MBP over to someone like that.
I think the iPad is filling a gap in computing that no one has really thought of before: computing that doesn't take place at a desk, and that is easy and fast, and as Apple says "gets out of the way".
Maybe one day the iPad will be able to do everything a proper computer can (open most file types, allow communication between applications such as drag and drop from one app to the other, etc...) and then it will actually appeal to everyone.

I agree that you're taxing the wrong thing. If you tax mileage rather than gas, you're not encouraging higher fuel economy the same way a gas tax would. The ones who burn more fuel should brunt the burden. It's a lot easier to get a more fuel efficient vehicle than it is to make your necessary commute shorter.
But these taxes are historically for funding the construction and upkeep of the highways, not to curb gas usage or to spur efficiency.
A car that gets 60 mpg will do just as much 'damage' to a road surface as a car that get 8 mpg....but the 50mpg car will pay much, MUCH less for upkeep of that road than the other in a gas-tax based situation.

At first read I was going to be skeptical....I mean isn't this just cold fusion?
Having read through the science on this now...we'll this is pretty interesting.
The main hurdle appears to be the actual application of this into some type of consumer device...and that being cost effective at the end of the day.
If this works out..yea, we are talking about some major changes....
Why are these guys in Utah though?

This is getting off topic, but I have a directivo sitting in the corner collecting dust. I owned tivos since they first came out, but a few years the directv dvrs got good enough to replace the tivo experience, and as far as a I know the new tivo box will have a premium monthly charge, so I seriously doubt I will switch.
I am a big fan of the technology brought into the world by TiVo and ReplayTV, but TiVo has been one of the most amazingly horribly run companies I have ever seen. I am shocked they are still in business...and I guess they can thank Dish for that...
Anyways back to time warner fighting with fox.
