I think it is very telling for Microsoft that they weren't represented there. You had Yahoo!, Cisco Systems, Twitter
Oracle, NetFlix, Apple, Genentech, Google, The Westly Group, and Facebook.
What, do you think Microsoft has been snubbed?
The meeting was between the President and the heads of Silicon Valley tech companies.
All of the companies represented at the meeting are based in California.
Microsoft is based in Redmond, Washington.
So Microsoft weren't invited (http://thenextweb.com/microsoft/2011/02/18/why-ballmer-wasnt-at-the-obama-tech-dinner/). ;)

How can something like this be for "some phones?" Doesn't make much sense to me--seems more likely to be a problem with the carrier--mine did fine figuring out it was now daylight savings time.
Is it possible that 4.2.6 and 4.3 have different DST settings? Sure. Unlikely? You bet. Odds are we're seeing an issue with carriers and it localized in spots.

The Mac Guides are a great resource for the website, however I think the categories of articles on the site aren't particularly great which makes finding information difficult.
I'd like to try and improve it, but part of the problem is the front page, which I can't edit and there should be a consensus on something that major.
There a some categories that contain very little good content, for example the "Companies" category. There are some which are fairly meaningless like the "Guides" category. And there are some which seem a little wishy-washy like the "Digital Lifestyle" category, what should go in there? I think the following categories on the front page would be good.
Main Categories
Mac Hardware - Apples Mac hardware and related articles such as the ones for RAM and upgrades. Subcategories for laptops, desktops, and possibly individual models.
Mac Software - Any software available for Mac OS X. Subcategories for Mac OS X, individual software titles and Programming.
iTunes - Anything related to iTunes for Mac or Windows.
iPod/Apple TV - Anything iPod or AppleTV (which is essentially an iPod that doesn't move :p) related.
iPhone/iPod Touch - Anything iPhone, or iPod Touch related. Subcategories for jailbreaking and individual software titles.
Gaming - The gaming articles are very popular (http://guides.macrumors.com/Special:Popularpages), and that Mac isn't always the best platform for gaming, so I think it should have its own category, including articles for connecting your console to your Mac. With subsections for iPod Game titles, Mac Game titles.
Networking and Internet - Internet Related Articles. Subcategory for Software titles.
People and Organisations - Any articles for companies and analysts and Apple CEO's.
Special Categories
MacRumors.com - Same as now.
Forum Posts - Same as now, but this should be a special category.
Uncategorised - Anything that doesn't fit in the above categories. Could possibly be renamed "Miscellaneous" or something.
Finally a link to the Help:Contents article from the front page would be useful.
Any thoughts? Anything major I've missed?

I'm hoping that what this will mean is that the new iPhone will be able to do everything the iPad 2 can now do -- especially screen mirroring.

Girls don't think it's a big deal; as long as someone isn't pushy or annoying, they don't mind if someone asks, and they find it flattering, even when they say they're not interested.
I agree. Don't be creepy, too. No heavy breathing through your teeth so it makes that creepy noise, and no Fava beans with Chianti for lunch.

Not a good survey. The stats seem wrong based on what I'm seeing everywhere else. 2000 people is not a large enough sample set. And although the 40% higher demand makes sense given the full year that took place between introduction of "tablets" as a concept versus as an established product, it means very little.
Why do you say 2000 people is not a large enough sample? Do you know statistical sampling methods?
I'm not saying this survey isn't flawed... just sample size doesn't have to be that large.

The point of PP seems to be to get rid of the consequences
More importantly, how is it relevant to the discussion at hand?
Or is he lamenting the consequences of losing Planned Parenthood and the services they provide?
PP offers a too easy fix to people's indiscretion

i dont know if it was posted yet but god please put out an iphone with a physical keyboard.
IMHO, adding a physical keyboard will most likely add thickness to the iPhone device & that goes against what Apple are doing. I could be wrong but it seems that one of Apple's main design focus has been to get thinner & thinner with each new revision of the product line. Therefore, I think that Apple will "unfortunately" not be adding a physical keyboard to the iPhone design anytime in the near future. :o

Question for folks who have gone (or purchased ticket voucher). From the looks of it, you buy a voucher, which you then redeem online for a ticket, correct? Can you buy the voucher now, but fill in the attendee ticket details at a later time? I'm going to buy, but there's the off chance I won't be able to attend, so I'd like to give the ticket to someone else.
Yes. I got mine this morning, and buying a ticket is separate from activating it. After you buy, you'll get a link to activate it, and you could forward that link to someone else if you can't go. Once one person activates it, however, it becomes non-transferable.

I had to delete the Facebook app and reinstall for the push notification options to come up on my phone. Did try restarting the phone before that but made little difference.
Thanks...I was wondering why nothing was being pushed through

..if Apple doesn't promise to not kick Target out of the DVD sales business, Target will leave the DVD sales business?
I can hardly imagine the terror that must be echoing through the halls of the Disney headquarters. Don't tell their biggest shareholder - he'll be mightily ticked off.

I don't believe that either nail it on the head. While they're both a vast improvement, the proposals still need a little work in my view.
While I don't have anything to lay on the table right now, I'll come back and post when I've had thinkies.
