My H1b extension was applied on Jan 15. It is approved this week.

I Applied H1b 8th Year Extension on Jan 9th. Still waiting Anybody has this kind of situation? my Case number Starts with WAC
I Applied my H1b extn on Jan 9th , and i went to India on 18th Jan and came back on 18th Feb using my AP is this could be cause for the delay.

As per company immigration HR, "since H1B extension was filed (Jun-06-2008) one week after GC labor filing (May-29-2008), we can apply next H1B extension based on May-01-2011 expiry".
Can you please reaffirm that we ought to file extension based on April 16, 2010 and not May-01-2011.

I am currently on H1-B (valid till 2010) and recently applied for PERM LC. I work for a non-profit organization and the category is EB-2. Nationality: Turkey.
I was planning to go for my GC but my plans have recently changed. I am planning to get married in 2009 Summer (earlier is not possible). I have done my research and found out that if I receive my GC before I get married, it will be very difficult to get my spouse here.
I am expecting to get the LC in about 4 months. Then, most probably I can file I-140 and I-485 concurrently as the visa numbers will be available for my case. However, I am not planning to do it anymore due to the reasons mentioned above.
So, here are my questions:
Now, the new rule tells that LC certification must be used within 180 days. So, can I just file I-140 while single and even though my visa numbers are current for I-485 (Can I seperate I-140 and I-485 and save I-1485 for after marriage - Summer 2009). Does it matter for the purposes of I-140, if I am single - and then add my spouse to I-485 in the US (She will be on H-4 with me here)?
I am not planning to change my job. So, would my I-140 have an expiration date?
Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you!
Apply I-485 as soon as you are eligible to apply you never know when they change the rules, getting your wife here is in future, she can always educate herself and come to US on H-1 or any other visa just to accompany you, this is just a suggestion decision is yours.

Teacher H1 is same as any other H1. There are consultancies hiring teachers. You can join based on your qualifications and experience. Normally,
1. The Consulting company and client has an agreement; that they can not hire a person for 6- 12 months. (agreement is different from company to company).
2. Some times you have signed and BOND with consulting company; that you will not join the client for 2 years after you resign from the comapany.
3. You are try to spoil the relation. I urge you to tell the consulting comapny before you leave and join the client.
They can not revoke 140 so there is no harm to your 485. be careful of counting 485 filing date.

I do have EAD that is valid till Sep'08. Do I need to tell the client company that my I-485 is pending and that I can work using EAD or should I apply as anyone who would apply for the position without any strings...!!!
I would really appreciate if you guys can let me know any nuiances that I need to be aware of and any caveats that exist in this situation.

I had the same problem when I left my last company. They withheld my 15 days pay, constantly asking me to provide the no dues letter. I complained to DOL(Personally gave a call to them). I also informed Ex-Harasser that I got no option to but to complain them about the non payment of the salary. The complained worked like a charm. They sent the paycheck overnight( payed 16$ for the Fedex, can't believe that it's true). The thing is, you just need to tell them that unless you get the pay, you have no option but to complain to DOL, in most of the cases, these crooks will listen.

While today's development is great news for folks in the 485/AOS cue, what happens with people in CP? With the opening of the floodgates, I am unsure when visas will be available to CP cases who were scheduled for interviews in Aug and beyond. I am a great supporter of today's victory, but I am unsure where CP cases stand now? Another 4 year wait?

Female homeowners were also carrying around more aggravation, making less time for leisure, and were less likely to spend time with friends.
"Home ownership can be a much more complex idea than just a straightforward expression of what we call the American dream," says Grace Wong Bucchianeri, an assistant professor of real estate at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School. The story was reported on Canada.com
But what about all the good stuff that comes with owning a home? Aren't homeowners benefiting from the security and independence of owning. Not really. The research shows that when you control for things like childbirth and income, the difference in contentment vanishes.
"I don't see any strong evidence that homeowners are any happier than renters," says Bucchianeri, whose 600-woman study is under review for publication in the Journal of Urban Economics. "On the other hand, they consistently report a higher level of pain — or what you might call negative feelings — connected to their home, and that's after controlling for all kinds of demographic characteristics, their financial situation, how many children they have and so on."
Bound to happen. Houses have been overpriced and House ownership has been way more expensive than renting in recent years. So if one buys a house there would be very little discretionary income to have a good life.

My attorney says the real problem is, chennai wants a copy of primary applicants valid visa stamp if applying separately. Which means I have to get out of the country to get a visa stamp for sake of my spouse. I am thinking of flying to India and get my visa stamped along with my wife (don't know if vfs will allow me to add an application now). Any other suggestions?

Thanks. This sure is helpful. btw i have a Canadian PR card. one less headache in step 3 :) But of course I love it here so im stuck here doing all kinds of circus for 8 years to continue staying.
new H1 and H1 visa renewal are done in all US embassies in Canada.
1. Look out for dates, after registering and paying fees. USD 9.50 for one appointment of one, two, three .... members.
2. Dates are not available, but are released around 20th in bult; also, check out each hour.
3. Allow 30 days for Canadian TRV (temporay visitors visa) to come in mail
4. Go for visa interview.
I did all the above, but had to cancel Vancouver appointment for lack of leave from a very good and generous employer ( I am in operations). Any other questions, please feel free to PM me.
