In OHIO I have successfully renewed my DL for 4 full years solely on original I-485 receipt.
On H1 they still give 1 year extensions.
Try doing the same in your state.

One of the biggest gripe, that legal retrogressed immigrants have about the immigration system here, is that the current retrogression locks them up in one position far too long for them to grow in career. Either your company was not advised properly by your attorney or you were not aware of this simple rule that you need to work in the same job category (with as many employers as you wish subject AC21) until about six month passes after you get your green card. Otherwise you could run into trouble at some point.

My CP interview at Montreal in September 2008 (EB2 � India), I have few questions before interview.
1. Do I have to get Affidavit of support or income come Tax Return from my sponsor company?
2. Do I have to file Affidavit of support for spouse and children
3. As my passport is going to expired I need to get new, Do I have to inform NVC/ consulate before Interview?

Yes, I realize a H1 transfer is needed to work in another company. And 140 is not approved. So the new company has to start GC all over. Too bad, it looks like priority date cannot be ported since it LC is still in process.

yea i got some work too, actually built a nice relationship with a cool company. i've also found that some people offering jobs are either full of you know what or they don't pay very well.

I applied my i-485 to NSC and it was transferred to NBC in 2009.
NBC arranged an interview with the local immigration office in April 2009.
The Immigration Offer issued a welcome notice even though my PD was not current.
I still have not received the GREEN CARD.
In March of 2011 I received an email saying that my case has been transferred to TSC "to speed up processing"
So I dont know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
Please respond.

The Obama administration announced to use cutting-edge technologies to revamp the entire US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), so as to not only reduce the paperwork, but also the backlog and bring in more transparency into the system.
US President Barack Obama told a select bi-partisan group of Congressmen that such a system would be in place in the next 90 days, in which the USCIS will launch a vastly improved website.
This is likely to help thousands of Indian Americans every year who apply for permanent residency or Green Card, citizenship or approach USCIS for various immigration issues, but have to experience an agonizing wait.

I am in 5th year of my H1B visa and have visa stamped through the end of September 2010. I am traveling to India May 15th, 2010 and returning to the US on June 6th, 2010. That means I will have about 4 months of valid visa by the time I will be entering the USA. I am planning on renewing my visa after returning to the US. On a side note, my labor has ben approved and filed I-140 recently.
My questions is, do you think I have to start my H1B visa renewal before I leave to India or I can apply for renewal after I return?
Any suggestions appreciated!
